This is actually my absolute favorite hike!
An exciting circular excursion, which crosses very different environments and makes us discover post-glacial high mountain landscapes, with pioneer vegetation and some real botanical rarity.
A steep climb in the woods, in the mountain pine pine forest and in the high altitude grasslands of the Monfalconi Valley of Forni, will be followed by a long descent on the gravels of the Monfalconi Valley of Cimoliana.

Leaving the parking lot of the Pordenone refuge, we will walk the flat Val Meluzzo up to Caseruta dei Pecoli.
From here begins the steep ascent, first in the woods, and then through the meadows, which leads along the Monfalcon Valley of Forni, to the panoramic Marchi-Granzotto bivouac. A few technical passages.
From the Marchi-Granzotto bivouac, a short and steep ascent on detrital terrain leads to Forcella del Leone, where in the right season we can find the rare Gentian of Froelich.
From the fork you descend on the other side, in the Monfalcon Valley of Cimoliana, a long descent on gravel, which will take us back to the Pordenone Refuge, where we will indulge in Marika's good cuisine!
To get to know the wild Dolomites.
To admire the post-glacial landscapes and the pointed spiers of the Friulian Dolomites.
To understand why it is my favorite excursion in the Dolomites!
